INSPORTS all-island primary school football tourney kicks off

The Institute of Sports (INSPORTS) All-Island Primary Schools Football Competition got underway in earnest on Tuesday across St Catherine, St James, and Hanover.

Approximately 60 schools will be in action in the three parishes as they battle to make it to the all-island showdown.

Action got going in the St Catherine Central Zone where McAuley Primary whipped Friendship Primary 2-0 courtesy of goals by Jaheve Oaley and Ramone Comodus.

Spanish Town Primary edged St John’s Primary 2-1, spurred by a double by Tyrece Green, while Perez Pearson replied for St John’s.

In the third match, Eltham Park blanked Angels Primary 2-1 with goals from Lamar Maitland and Daniel James, while Al Gordon got the consolation.

In the St Catherine North Zone played at Bramwell Clarke Sports Complex, Victoria Primary trounced Time and Patience Primary 5-1, with Antonio Reid netting twice. Shamario Wray, Kemar Bryan, and TJ Ricketts completed the rout. Jamoy Brooks got the consolation for Time and Patience Primary.

Crescent Primary registered a massive 12-0 win over Mount Rosser as Tyrese Jackson scored four times and Javon Baker chipped in with three goals. Damarion Crawford and Jayden Beaver scored two each.

It was much closer in the third game at the venue as Ewarton Primary edged Jericho 2-1. Hasari Roberts and Shahoylia Mitchell scored for the winners, while Omari Martin replied for Jericho.

Meanwhile, the games in the Portmore Zone, played at Portsmouth Primary, were much closer as Greater Portmore clipped Bridgeport Primary 3-2, with Jayquan Campbell scoring twice and Renaldo Cooke grabbing one, while Kirani Brown and Jordon Fearon netted for Bridgeport.

Naggo Head and Waterford battled to a 1-1 with the scorers being Jermaine Thomas for Naggo Head and Nikaro Barrett for Waterford. Portsmouth and Christel House also played to a 1-1 draw, Khalil Gordon scoring for Portsmouth and Rojae Grant for Christel House.

Over at Marlie Acres in Old Harbour, Marlie Mount beat Davis Primary 1-0 courtesy of a Demar Lewis strike. Jahiel Johnson scored three times as Ensom City whipped Spring Gardens 4-2 and Old Harbour Primary beat Old Harbour Bay Primary 2-0 with goals from Mallychi Barrett and Deshawn White.

Pembroke Hall Primary of St Andrew are the defending all-island football champions.
